Around 1 million young people in the UK are currently Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), and the majority are young men. For most of them, they’re in this position not because they lack ambition, but because they lack visibility of the pathways ahead of them.
They haven’t met people whose career journeys feel relatable. They don’t always see their strengths reflected in what schools celebrate, or in the careers they believe are available to them.

The data paints a clear picture: the issue isn’t a lack of motivation or talent among applicants; it’s a system that has become increasingly difficult to enter.

Entry-level roles are supposed to be the foundation of the workforce. But right now, they’re acting more like a filter which is excluding the very people they’re meant to support.
