Coaching Skills for Peer Mentors
Peer mentoring is a fantastic way for students to gain skills, knowledge and confidence whilst also providing a space for their peers to navigate upcoming academic and social demands, and future opportunities.
Applying a coaching approach to peer mentoring enhances the quality of support, encourages self-directed growth from mentees, and fosters deeper learning relationships. Coach-mentors acquire skills that help them across all their relationships – with family, friends and into the world of employment.
Inclusive Futures are the experts in helping educators and students apply coaching principles to their roles. Our peer mentoring package supports your students to make their best possible impact as coach-mentors. It comprises the following:
- Introduction to Coaching Skills workshop
- 4 x supervision sessions with an ICF accredited Coach
- Programme evaluation
- Young Person Index for mentors/ mentees
Inclusive Futures provide coaching supervision with an ICF accredited coach for individuals who take on the role of coach/ mentor with others.
Coaching Skills Workshop
The workshop equips participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently coach and mentor others. Participants leave with 6 hours of CPD in Coaching Skills and an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certificate.
Training is a combination of theory and practice, with lots of opportunities to practice new coaching skills across the day. We will cover:
- What Mentoring is
- The principles of coaching and mentoring
- Active listening skills
- Powerful questioning
- Establishing a mentoring relationship
- Making conversations impactful
On completion of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to become ICF and CPD accredited, demonstrating verified coaching knowledge and hours of practice.
